Description
Indication of ALVALIN 40MG/G
ALVALIN 40MG/G has long been used in the treatment of dietary obesity. The active substance cathin (D-norpseudoephedrine hydrochloride) has an indirect sympathomimetic effect by increasing the amount of messenger substances in the CNS. A direct appetite-suppressing effect on the corresponding center in the brain is currently believed.
How ALVALIN 40MG/G Works?
Patients with dietary obesity with a BMI of 30 to 45 kg / m².
Patients will be randomized to treatment groups 1 or 2. The study medication must be taken every morning after breakfast:
Treatment group 1: 0 mg cathin hydrochloride per day, i. 12 drops of ALVALIN placebo for three times 12 weeks, interrupted by two times eight weeks only basal therapy

Evaluation of the efficacy and safety of alvaline in the treatment of dietary obesity in patients with a BMI in the range of 30 to 45 kg / m2 compared to placebo with intermittent administration over a total period of 52 weeks (three treatment periods of 12 weeks interrupted by two) eight weeks basal therapy without study medication)
What are possible side effects of ALVALIN?
Appetite-inhibiting medicines containing cathin may cause the occurrence of pulmonary hypertension in some patients. Although this disease is rare, it is severe and, if left untreated, often fatal. A clear symptom of this is respiratory distress during physical exertion (exertional dyspnea) or aggravation of these breathing difficulties in such a situation. In such a case, it is recommended to stop treatment with ALVALIN drops immediately.
If the patient experiences one or more of the following side effects, it is best to seek immediate medical attention. Among the most commonly observed side effects of ALVALIN drops include heart-turf, high blood pressure and chest pain. It can also cause dizziness, seizures, sleep disorders, increased nervousness and depression.
